Ayrton Senna, a legendary Formula 1 driver, was known for his dominance in Formula 1 and his close relationships with other drivers, including Emerson Fittipaldi. Fittipaldi, a two-time F1 World Champion, later revealed that Senna had considered racing in the Indy 500 in 1993.
In 1992, Senna, out of contract with McLaren, tested a Penske car at Firebird International Raceway in Phoenix. This test was widely publicized and considered a significant event in motorsports history, as it was the first time a major F1 driver had tested an IndyCar without then going on to race in the series.
